Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan joined the ranks of 21 Heroes 2021 selected by the Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI).
Upon entering the ranks, Anies aligns himself with a number of world figures, including the founders of Tesla and Space X, Elon musk. TUMI itself is a German non-profit organization that promotes sustainable urban transport policy initiatives around the world.
Of the released launches CNNIndonesia.comOn Friday (May 2), Anies entered TUMI’s 21 Heroes 2021 line due to its success in improving Jakarta’s transportation amid the corona virus (Covid-19) pandemic.
According to TUMI, a series of Anies achievements are the construction of 63 kilometers of bicycle lanes, to create intermodal integration.
“This city (Jakarta) aims to create transportation that is fair, affordable and inclusive for all groups,” TUMI’s explanation said in its statement.
TUMI also appreciated Anies’ decision to launch an electric bus as an effort to reduce air pollution in Jakarta.
Furthermore, TUMI said, one of Anies’s successes in transforming Jakarta’s transportation system was the renovation of the KRL and MRT stations to integrate them with other modes of transportation.
The list of world figures included in 21 Heroes 2021 is considered successful in transforming the transportation system, despite the fact that the world is affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
