SURABAYA, KOMPAS.com– The mayor of Surabaya, Tri Rismaharini, opposed the number of new corona viruses or patients with Covid-19 referred from outside the treated area in Surabaya.

Risma was enraged that Covid-19 positive patients from Surabaya had to undergo an independent quarantine.

Because, the isolation room at the referral hospital is over-capacity because it accommodates hundreds of patients from outside Surabaya.

“When we are in the city itself (Surabaya), we cannot find a place to take care of ourselves,” Risma said when he held a meeting with representatives of IDI Surabaya and East Java Persi on the page of the Surabaya City Council, on Monday (11/11 / 2020).

Risma gave an example of the Soewandhie Hospital in Surabaya, which was full of patients from out of town.

“Everything was forwarded to Surabaya. Meanwhile, Surabaya patients couldn’t even get a place,” said Risma.

Risma admitted that she always relented and invited Covid-19 patients from outside the area to be treated in Surabaya.

But he was surprised that Covid-19 positive patients continued to be referred to Surabaya. In fact, the government of East Java province has designated several referral hospitals.

“Why does it continue to be received from the outside? Even though there is a referral hospital in East Java that has been designated. It is not fair if everyone is brought to Surabaya,” Risma said Monday.

Risma understands that there are people outside of Surabaya who do not believe in the hospital facilities in their area.

However, he also objected whether all patients from other areas were treated in Surabaya.

Therefore, Risma asked the hospital to clearly regulate the flow of Covid-19 reference patients. Therefore, not all patients outside the treated area in Surabaya.

According to Risma’s count, up to 50 percent of the positive patients treated at various hospitals in Surabaya came from outside the area.

In some cases, Risma said, Covid-19 positive patients from outside the area were admitted through the hospital emergency room.

“In my count, there are 50 percent of patients (outside of Surabaya). So sometimes they go to the emergency room, at Soewandie Hospital, at BDH Hospital, there are patients outside of Surabaya,” said Risma.

It was considered dangerous for medical workers working on the front lines.

It is not uncommon for Covid-19 positive patients from outside Surabaya to come to the hospital with a family group.

Risma is concerned that the patient’s family is exposed to the novel coronavirus or Covid-19.

“If he is OTG, then he goes everywhere (traveling) in Surabaya, for example to food stalls and other places, of course this is making it difficult for us in Surabaya,” said Risma.

“If he brings a family, while there are positive people in one of his family, this is really difficult for us,” said Risma again.

Risma expects the entire community to follow established protocols and regulations to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus or Covid-19.

So that not everyone has to be referred to Surabaya and accepted by hospitals in Surabaya.

“If he is mediocre and can still be overcome in the area of origin, why should he be referred to a hospital in Surabaya? That is difficult for us and we have passed it on to PERSI and IDI. Hopefully there will be a solution soon,” said Risma. .

As of Sunday (05/10/2020, 708 positive cases of Covid-19 were registered in Surabaya. A total of 518 positive patients were still being treated).

In addition, there were 1,572 patients under surveillance (ODP), 2,987 people were monitored (ODP).
