Dear:
Chief of the Indonesian National Police
We, as children of the nation, are very concerned about the life of the nation and the state today, especially after the return of Habib Muhammad Rizieq Shihab (HRS). The government must engage HRS to build national stability in order to realize the ideals of the nation and the state. Unfortunately, what happened was the opposite, with widespread and prolonged commotion. This appears to be due to the government’s surprise to see millions of HRS-loving supporters from various parts of the Republic of Indonesia welcoming their return to their homeland.
In fact, if the government with good intentions is able to open up and build a sincere dialogue, it is believed that the situation and the socio-political living conditions will be better. The commotion that ensued and the disruption of dialogue channels widened the distance between the government and HRS supporters. This condition cannot be underestimated, because it has the potential to weaken national unity and cohesion, especially with the illegal shootings of the six FPI troops that further aggravate national stability. It is reasonable to suspect that serious human rights crimes and terrorism have been committed. There are indications of the kidnapping and mistreatment of the six FPI soldiers in charge of escorting the priest they love and their families for the sake of worship and participating in family recitals.
Therefore, we believe that martyrs died. In this case, we assess that all the principles of Pancasila have been ignored by the police. The inhumane acts that brutally took the lives of young people cannot be justified and there is no excuse to end the crime. We are very concerned that the Indonesian nation will split into two opposing camps as a result of the killing of six FPI soldiers and the mob event that will lead to the arrest of HRS. It is undeniable that the police continue to demand the truth. On the other hand, the FPI and its supporters are always cornered and positioned as the wrong party.
In order to alleviate the situation that is becoming hotter and less conducive, and in the interest of upholding law and justice, we hereby demand:
1. The police immediately released HRS from detention and in return, the list below is ready to act as a guarantor.
2. Immediately establish a Joint Investigation Team (TGPF) that is independent, free from influence and pressure from any party to fully investigate serious crimes against human rights and crimes of terrorism for the murder of six FPI soldiers .
3. Invite all the children of the nation to continue to supervise, monitor and participate intensely in the defense of the entire process of solving the human tragedy.
In closing, we must remind you that acts of ignorance, fabrication and embezzlement in the process of solving this humanitarian tragedy have the potential to unleash the anger of the people, which can lead to widespread social resistance and unrest.
