Misano –
Andrea Dovizioso successfully took over the leader of the classification after the MotoGP San Marino. However, Dovizioso was frustrated by their speed.
The Ducati rider only finished seventh in the Misano Circuit race on Sunday (9/13/2020). Starting from ninth position, Dovizioso passed the checkered flag with a gap of 10.358 seconds from Franco Morbidelli, who was the winner.
The results of the race confirmed the ‘suffering’ of Dovizioso during this weekend. Dovizioso has never been competitive since free practice after being only the 10th fastest driver in the combined session.
However, the nine points bagged by Dovizioso were enough to put him at the top of the MotoGP standings. The Italian driver now has 76 points, six points ahead of Fabio Quartararo, who was forced to retire after falling twice in the middle of the race.
Dovizoso was not satisfied with the inconsistency. Despite his success on the podium twice (once a winner), the 34-year-old only finished fifth in the other four races.
“My problem is speed. During my career I have been a very consistent runner, so in a situation like this, it will not bother me if we are fast at the right time. But now I am not that and this bothers me,” said Dovizioso . GPOne.
“This is not a problem because there is no Márquez, who has dominated in recent years, so now many riders are winning. On the other hand, this should be one of my strengths because when many drivers win, I am usually there too.” .
“But no, and we have to improve, otherwise it will be difficult for us to compete for the world title. At this speed it will not be enough until the end of the season to win the championship,” added Dovizioso.
