Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police denied that there had been arson and looting in the city of Thamrin, Jakarta, on Tuesday night (10/13/2020). Heru’s denial was in response to a viral video about this.
“Nothing, not true,” Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Commissioner Heru Novianto said on Tuesday (10/13/2020), as quoted by CNN Indonesia, on Wednesday (10/14/2020) .
In the video uploaded to the Twitter account @kepretcebong, the crowd can be seen gathered in front of the city of Thamrin. Furthermore, a fire was also seen burning in front of the building.
“Looting in the city of Thamrin,” read the statement in the cargo.
Kapolsek Tanah Abang AKBP Raden Muhammad Jauhari explained that there was indeed friction between the masses and the security forces during the 1310 action led by PA 212 and his colleagues in the National Anti-Communist Alliance (ANAK) NKRI.
“It was just the transfer of the masses from Gambir and Menteng to Tanah Abang, then intercepted by our troops, there was already friction, no looting, nothing,” Jauhari said.
In the friction, he said, the police had fired tear gas to block the crowd.
“So there is no burning or looting,” Jauhari said.
Furthermore, he stated that the situation around the city of Thamrin was auspicious. Jauhari said his party had also coordinated with local community leaders to carry out security.
“Everything is safe, we have coordinated with community leaders in the city of Thamrin to protect their respective citizens,” he said.
