Alfred Riedl, former Indonesian national team coach, dies

The news of Riedl’s death came from reports in the Austrian media Kurier. Riedl died after being lovingly cared for by his wife Jola.

Former Indonesian national team coach Alfred Riedl

Riedl is not a foreign name in the Indonesian soccer world. The Austrian coach has coached the Indonesian national team during three different periods, namely 2010-2011, 2013-2014 and 2016-2017.

During his time as head of the Indonesian national team, Riedl had recorded the best achievement when he led the rojiblanca team to finish as runners-up in the 2010 AFF Cup.

News of Riedl’s death was also relayed by his former assistant on the Indonesian national team, Wolfgang Pikal. “At the age of 70, Alfred Riedl died last night,” he said.
