Jakarta –
Aleix Espargaró, Aprilia Gresini rider, was sanctioned by the FIM MotoGP commissioner. The punishment at the same time involved a change in the starting position of the 2020 MotoGP European grid.
The results of the European MotoGP classification at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia place Aleix Espargaró in seventh position. But the position then moved up to sixth place after Jack Miller dropped a starting position.
However, a few hours before the primary class race on Sunday (11/8/2020) in the WIB afternoon, the FIM MotoGP commissioner sanctioned a penalty that made Aleix Espargaró also have to leave the starting position.
As stated in a press release received by detikSport, Aleix Espargaró is considered to have ignored the blue flag when he left the pit lane in the 2020 Q2 European MotoGP session.
With this action, Aleix Espargaró at the same time disturbed the rhythm of another rider (Franco Morbidelli of Petronas Yamaha SRT) and was also considered dangerous for other riders. This violation has also been confirmed by video and data.
As a result of this infraction, Aleix Espargaró has already been penalized with three positions in the 2020 MotoGP European grid race. In other words, he has had to drop three starting positions from the previous sixth place.
As a result, Pramac Ducati’s Jack Miller is now back in sixth starting position in the 2020 European MotoGP. Meanwhile, Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Miguel Oliveira will take seventh place, followed by Franco Morbidelli in eighth place.
Meanwhile, Aleix Espargaró, after being about to start in sixth position, had to settle for starting the race from ninth position.
