JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok proposed the dissolution of the Ministry of BUMN. According to him, the corporate governance of many states has been inefficient.

The man who is now familiarly called BTP said that he also felt this bad government immediately after entering the BUMN circle, or after being appointed as president commissioner of PT Pertamina (Persero).

He suggested that the hundreds of BUMNs that exist today should be managed in a truly professional manner and away from political interests. Indonesia can emulate what the Singaporean government has done by forming Temasek.

“The BUMN Ministry should be dissolved. We built a kind of Temasek, a kind of Indonesian Incorporation,” Ahok was quoted as saying in a broadcast uploaded by a YouTube account. POINTS seen on Wednesday (9/16/2020).

He gave an example, only in Pertamina, the positions of directors and commissioners were heavily loaded with political lobbying and division of positions.

“He could even change the director without telling me. I also got angry, so all the directors put pressure on the minister because he was the one who determined the minister. The commissioners were mostly entrusted by the ministries,” Ahok said.

Ahok claimed that he did not sit idly by in Commander Pertamina’s position. He felt called to make improvements. One of them proposes a position through an open auction.

According to Ahok, Indonesia needs more honest workers to be deployed to state-owned companies like Pertamina.

“The main thing is to be honest because honesty and loyalty have no school. If you have it, you will not be a saint until you are old. We pray that the fields in Indonesia are ready to sow good seeds,” Ahok said.

Great salary at Pertamina

According to him, many of Pertamina’s governance practices are very inefficient. The former head of East Belitung mentioned the salary at Pertamina, which he said made no sense in running the company.
