After beating Qatar, Shin Tae-yong highlighted the shortcomings of the U19 team

The Indonesian Under-19 team managed to beat Qatar 2-1 in a test match. Despite the good results, Coach Shin Tae-yong emphasized that there were shortcomings.

Indonesia vs Qatar takes place at SRC Mladost Stadium, Cakovec, on Thursday (9/17/2020) at WIB night. Indonesia fell behind in the 12th minute with a goal from Jassim Al-Mehairi.

This is Indonesia’s first victory during testing in Croatia. Previously, Indonesia lost to Bulgaria (0-3) and Croatia (1-7). Indonesia drew 3-3 after trailing three goals from Saudi Arabia.

“I am glad that I was able to beat Qatar even though we fell behind first. The players worked hard and never gave up during the match,” Shin Tae-yong was quoted as saying on the official PSSI website.

Despite winning, Shin highlighted some of his team’s flaws. Among them are related to man-to-man marking and positioning during defense.

“Even so, the team still has deficiencies such as the defense of the rivals, the defensive positions, etc. This is what we must polish to improve,” added the South Korean coach.

Indonesia met Qatar again in a test match on Sunday (09/20/2020). After that, David Maulana et al. against Bosnia-Herzegovina (9/25/2020) and Dinamo Zagreb (9/28/2020).
