JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Cyber Crimes Directorate (Dittipidsiber) Bareskrim Polri arrested an Indonesian citizen (WNI) as an alleged perpetrator who parodied the national anthem “Indonesia Raya”.
The arrests took place in Cianjur, West Java, on Thursday night (12/31/2020).
“The perpetrator was secured in Cianjur,” Bareskrim chief at the National Police headquarters, Commissioner General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, said via short message on Friday (1/1/2021).

Listyo explained that the arrest of this perpetrator was the result of the development of the arrest of the first perpetrator by the Malaysian Police (PDRM) in Sabah, Malaysia.
“The results of the development and cooperation with PDRM against the perpetrators that have been secured and examined in Malaysia,” Listyo said.
The arrests were made by a joint team of Polda Metro Jaya and Polda West Java under the Directorate of Cyber Crimes (Dittipidsiber), Bareskrim Polri.
Previously, the Indonesia Raya song parody case shocked the people of Indonesia and Malaysia.

The PDRM has moved quickly to investigate this case.
This investigation found that the perpetrators of the parody were not citizens of Malaysia, but citizens of Indonesia (WNI).
The PDRM itself has questioned an Indonesian worker in his 40s in Sabah, who is also a suspect in the case.
“The suspect was arrested in Sabah on Monday (12/28/2020) and the PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) found new leads in this case,” said Abdul Hamid, quoted by Malaysian media Bernama.
The video parody of the viral song Indonesia Raya not only completely changed the lyrics with insinuating phrases, but also replaced the national emblem of the Garuda bird with a rooster with the symbol of Pancasila, against the background of the Red and White flag .
