Airlangga emphasized that Jakarta PSBB’s status has never been revoked from the beginning. Even so, he regretted the public communication of Anies which was considered to have caused disturbances in both society and the world of economics.

“The world economy is very vulnerable to negative sentiment, it can reflect a lot on the movement of the capital market and it can also increase liquidity, it can cause capital outflows and also related to the stabilization of the rupee currency,” said the man who also He is president of the Covid-19 Management Committee and Economic Recovery. He explained that the economy is heavily influenced by two factors, namely fundamentals and sentiment. The negative sentiment could be triggered by uncertainty.

“Of course our hope is that we will not make any surprises with what has been done today,” Airlangga said.

He also commented on Anies’ policy as an overdose. Does the DKI Jakarta policy have an impact on the economy of other regions? According to him, Jakarta is not just a province, but also represents 20% of the country’s economy and the nerve center of the national economy.

“We see that micromanaging is important so that we can know the source, why, so that we do not take action that is not wrong (but) an overdose,” he said.

Airlangga gave an example that the PSBB announcement received a negative response from capital and money market players. Fortunately, on Friday, the market calmed down again and JCI started to be positive. Meanwhile, the composite index of stock prices in other Asian countries contracted as a result of waiting for the Fed’s policy announcement.

“Only Indonesia has increased because the (political) dose is recalculated in quotes,” Airlangga added.
