General Secretary (Sekum) PP Muhammadiyah Abdul Mu’ti rejected the offer of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to fill the post of Deputy Minister of Education and Culture (wamendikbud). Was Muhammadiyah asked for a replacement candidate?

“I don’t know. That is the prerogative of the president,” Abdul Mu’ti told reporters on Wednesday night (12/23/2020).

Following the rejection of Abdul Mu’ti, it was rumored that the post of Vice Minister of Education and Culture would be held by King Juli Antoni. It is known that the former PSI secretary general was part of Muhammdiyah. He was once the General President of the Muhammadiyah Youth and Muhammadiyah Student Association.

“Wow, I don’t know,” Abdul said when asked for confirmation.

So far it is not known who will be awarded the positions of Vice Ministry of Education and Culture. The chairman of the PP Council for Human Rights and Law, Muhammadiyah Trisno Raharjo, also admitted that he was unaware of the news that a member of Muhammadiyah would occupy the “empty seat” that was offered to Abdul Mu’ti.

“Regarding the question, I have no information,” Trisno said when contacted separately.
