LIVE – Indonesian scientists and researchers at the Institute of Molecular Biology or LBM Eijkman have just made history, for the first time successfully completing the sequencing of the nucleic acid sequences that make up the SARS-CoV-2 virus genome, also known as the Corona Virus Indonesia.

In their official broadcast as quoted by VIVA.co.id on the FB official website on Wednesday, April 6, 2020, LBM said they completed sequencing using the Next Generation Sequencing Tool (NGS) at the National Genome Center EBKman LBM.

“LBM Eijkman’s team managed to sequence the genomes of three virus isolates from three patients who tested positive for COVID-19 in Indonesia.

This is the first complete Indonesian Corona virus data stream to be uploaded to the GISAID data center that supports the rapid process of sharing over 16,000 Corona Virus data worldwide.

Preliminary data from these 3 isolates will be very useful for future research related to epidemiology (how viruses evolve and spread), vaccine development, and antiviral drugs.

Thank you for the support of all parties. Together we will definitely recover! “LBM wrote.

In addition, they have also managed to trace the origins of the Corona Virus that attacks Indonesia.
