The Minister of Transport affirms that the ban on Lebaran’s return home this year is final

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Transport Minister (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi reopened his voice on the policy of banning the return home in this Lebaran 2021.

He stressed that the government’s decision to ban homecoming this year is final, which means that it cannot be changed again.

“So we reiterate that the decision to ban homecoming this year is final,” said Budi Karya through an official statement on Sunday (4/4/2021).

“For this reason, we ask the public not to go home this year so that things do not happen that we do not want, that is, the increase in cases of Covid-19,” continued the former president director of PT Angkasa Pura II.

The Ministry of Transport itself will soon issue a Regulation of the Ministry of Transport (Permenhub) on the control of transport during Eid al-Fitr in 2021.

This regulation is both a support and a follow-up to the ban on returning home that has been announced by the government through PMK Coordinating Minister Muhadjir Effendy, in order to prevent an increase in Covid-19 cases.

Previously, the government had held a series of meetings, including the Committee for the Management of Covid-19 and the National Economic Recovery that was held on March 23, 2021 and the Ministerial Coordination Meeting on the Preparation of Idul Fitri 1442 H / 2021 on March 26, 2021.

As a follow-up to the results of the meeting, PMK Coordinating Minister Muhadjir Effendy has sent a letter to Ministers and Heads of Institutions on March 31, 2021, containing a decision to eliminate welcome activities in Lebanon in 2021.

The 2021 homecoming ban applies to both state civil servants, TNI-Polri, BUMN employees, private employees, freelancers, and the entire community.

The prohibition on returning home will take effect from May 6 to 17, 2021. As for before and after that date, people are advised not to carry out movements or activities outside the region, unless it is really a urgent and necessary situation.

Following up on the decision to prohibit the return home, the Ministry of Transportation continues to carry out intensive coordination with the Covid-19 Management Working Group, related Ministries / Institutions, TNI / Polri and the Regional Government.

The coordination takes place in the context of the drafting of a Regulation of the Ministry of Transport on the control of transport during Eid al-Fitr in 2021.

“We remain consistent in the implementation of the no-return-home policy. Today we are finalizing the Permenhub that we will publish in the near future,” explained Budi Karya.
