JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The former head of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (Kabais), TNI Soleman Ponto, assessed that the attack on the Police Headquarters was not an intelligence violation.

According to Ponto, the acts of terror that occurred at the National Police Headquarters were the responsibility of the National Antiterrorist Agency (BNPT), not intelligence.

“If we talk about terrorists, fighting terrorists, fighting terrorists, the only body most responsible is the BNPT,” Ponto said in an online discussion titled ‘Watch out! Radical millennial heretics in the virtual universe ‘, Sunday (4/4/2021).

“And this agency was formed to fight terrorists, so if there are terrorists still out there, ask them,” Ponto said.

Ponto was of the opinion that it would be wrong for the intelligence services to question the “collapse” of the Indonesian police headquarters.

However, he said, this could become the responsibility of Intelligence in the absence of a National Counter-Terrorism Agency.

“Another problem is that if there is no BNPT, then Intelligence can be found who is most responsible,” Ponto said.

“So, it is not intelligence that has been compromised, because since the birth of the BNPT all responsibility falls on the BNPT,” he said.

However, Ponto said that the information that Intelligence has was not impossible to deliver to BNPT.

However, according to him, it was not certain that the information provided by Intelligence was used by the BNPT.

“Since the Sarinah bomb, I have reminded us, let’s see what the BNPT does, at that moment I said, this was a failure of the BNPT, it was the Sarinah bomb, now it is happening again,” Ponto said.

“We have never audited how BNPT works to take action against the issue of terrorism,” he said.

Previously, the Chief of the Public Information Office of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Brigadier General (Pol) Rusdi Hartono, admitted that the police “did not see” ZA (25) who was carrying a firearm when He entered the area of the Police Headquarters on Wednesday (3/31/2021).

Rusdi also stated that the surveillance and security system was being audited at the National Police Headquarters.

“We are still exploring (where ZA’s weapons were taken). Because ZA died,” Rusdi said at the police headquarters, Jakarta, on Thursday (1/4/2021).

“It is possible that it was put in the body, either in the waist or somewhere. That fact has escaped the guard,” he said.

He said any weaknesses found in the security system would be fixed.

Security system audits are not only carried out at the Police Headquarters, but also at the Police Headquarters in other areas.

“We are conducting an audit on security issues. We can see from the audit results that if deficiencies are found, we will fix them,” Rusdi said.

In connection with this, Rusdi said that the National Police Headquarters also examined the police officers who were on duty at the security post.

“It must be verified, to further clarify how ZA can enter and carry out the action at the Police Headquarters,” he said.

ZA’s attack on the Police Headquarters took place on Wednesday around 4.30pm WIB. She is a 25 year old woman.

Initially, he entered the National Police Headquarters through a pedestrian door. Then ZA continued to enter the front building near the guard post.

ZA was carrying a firearm and managed to direct the shots at the police.

The police finally took action by shooting ZA on the spot. ZA died after several shots.
