Jakarta – Deputy VII of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), Wawan Hari Purwanto, suspects that the action of the spouses who carried out the suicide attack in front of the Cathedral Church of Makassar was an act of revenge. Wawan suspected the terrorist couple took revenge after their mentor was killed.
“They are actually seeking revenge after the mentor was killed. We have calculated that the mentor wants to attack,” Wawan said in an online discussion held by MNC Trijaya FM on Saturday (3/4/2021).
Wawan suspected that the couple who carried out the suicide bombers or the terrorists were subordinates of the alleged terrorist network Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) M Rizaldi (45) who did not join ISIS because he was shot and killed by Densus 88 after fighting with machetes and rifles during his arrest in Villa Mutiara, Kelurahan Bulurokeng, Biringkanaya District, Makassar, on Wednesday (1/6) around 06:00 WIB.
“And after (Rizaldi) was shot and killed, now these two people (the Makassar bomber couple) are Rizaldi’s upbringing, they become the successor to the boyfriends. So he wants that to happen and the plan January attack has been carried out by him, “he called it.
“This person is being searched by the security apparatus, and he realizes that they are looking for him. So he ran all day, erased traces, removed all attributes, then changed his number, changed places,” he added.
Therefore, Wawan assessed that the two attackers from the Makassar Cathedral Church wanted revenge for Rizaldi’s death. “So the revenge he wants to take is to carry out attacks, and once again he wants to make heaven,” Wawan said.
It is known that in January 2021, Densus 88 shot dead suspected network terrorists Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) M Rizaldi (45) and Sanjai Ajis (22). Both are believed to have been about to leave for Syria to join ISIS. However, the plans of the in-laws and their son-in-law failed, because Densus 88 had discovered their identities through surveillance.
