The fire at the Balongan refinery, Indramayu, West Java, caused a commotion. This is because the incident evacuated hundreds of residents who live around the refinery.

For information, the fire at the Balongan Refinery occurred in tank T-301G of the Refinery Unit (UK) VI of PT Pertamina (Persero). Citing Pertamina’s website, RU VI Balongan is the sixth of seven refineries owned by PT Pertamina (Persero). The RU VI Balongan refinery has been operating since 1994. RU has a vision to become the leading refinery in Asia.
The main business of the RU VI Balongan refinery is the processing of crude oil (crude oil) into oil (fuel oil), non-fuel products and petrochemicals. The area of operation is in Balongan, Mundu and Salam Darma. The raw materials processed at the RU VI Balongan refinery are Duri y Minas crude oil that comes from Riau province.
