Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Deputy VII of the State Intelligence Agency (COMPARTMENT) Wawan Hari Purwanto mentioned the main motive of the two terrorists who exploded suicide bomb in the cathedral church Makassar, South Sulawesi, because he wanted revenge after his mentor was killed.
“They are actually seeking revenge, after their mentor was killed,” Wawan said in an online discussion on Saturday (3/4).
Wawan said the mentor of the two Makassar bombers was Rizaldi, who was a member of the Jamaah Ansarut Daulah (JAD) group.
Rizaldi is known to have been shot dead by Densus 88 Anti-terror on January 6, 2021 in Villa Mutiara, Bulurokeng Village, Makassar, South Sulawesi.
Rizaldi, he said, had groomed the two perpetrators to become “girlfriends” or suicide bombers at Makassar Cathedral Church.
“It turns out that after being shot and killed, these two people were Rizaldi’s education to become the successor to the boyfriends. So the January attack plan was carried out by him,” Wawan said.
In addition, Wawan revealed that the security forces had searched for the two perpetrators of the bomb attack in Makassar Cathedral. The two perpetrators, he said, had realized that they were being attacked by the police.
Seeing this, Wawan said the two perpetrators tried to move places and change their phone numbers to remove the traces.
“So he ran. He erased traces, removed all attributes, and changed communication. Then he moved. So the revenge he wanted to get rid of once again gave him ‘heaven,'” he said.
Seeing this, Wawan emphasized that the suicide bombing in Makassar was not in the interest of Muslims. But for the sake of his own group.
He also said that the movement pattern of terrorist groups in Indonesia so far was due to an order from ISIS. The order, he said, was immediately carried out by ISIS sympathizers and cells in various parts of the world.
“Because this has pledged loyalty to ISIS. They are still wondering how to figure that out, and Indonesia is one of the targets,” he said.
