Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea finally tasted their first defeat. Ironically, once defeated, the Blues conceded five goals immediately.
In fact, Chelsea and Tuchel are on the rise again because they are unbeaten in 14 matches in all competitions. Furthermore, only two goals were in Chelsea’s goal.
This shows how tough the Blue Si’s bottom line is with Tuchel. Therefore, Chelsea are the favorites to win when they host West Bromwich Albion at Stamford Bridge on Saturday (3/4/2021).
The opponent is the WBA which has slumped to 19th position and only scored one goal in the last five games. Meanwhile, Chelsea have not conceded a goal in their last seven home games.
Christian Pulisic put Chelsea ahead in the 27th minute and it looked like they were going to win easily. However, the disaster came when Chelsea lost Thiago Silva, who was sent off in the 28th minute.
After that, the WBA went ahead 2-1 at the end of the first half with a pair of goals from Matheus Pereira. In the second half, the WBA added to Chelsea’s suffering with goals from Karl Robinson and Mbaye Diagne.
Chelsea had a chance to cut the score 2-4 through Mason Mount, before Robinson’s second goal in injury time secured the WBA’s 5-2 victory. For Chelsea, the perfect record with Tuchel eventually faded.
After never losing in 14 games, Chelsea lost once and conceded five goals. This is the second time Chelsea have conceded so many goals after last October 2011, when they lost 3-5 to Arsenal.
The defeat that threatens Chelsea’s position in the top four, because they are now just two points ahead of West Ham United in fifth place, three points from Tottenham Hotspur and five points from Liverpool.
