Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Polda Metro Jaya revealed that several suspected terrorists were arrested in the area DKI Jakarta and its surroundings have prepared around 100 detonatable bombs. In and around Jakarta area, police arrested six suspects terrorist.
Polda Metro’s head of Public Relations, Jaya Kombes Pol Yusri Yunus, said the explosives and bombs were the result of searches at the residence of suspects ZA and HH.
“If you add all that up, almost 100 more bombs will be prepared,” Yusri told reporters at police headquarters, Jakarta, on Tuesday (3/30).
There are five bottles of active bombs that contain triacetone tripoxide (TATP), which is a chemical compound for making highly explosive bombs weighing up to 1.5 kilograms.
Later, at the home of the HH suspect, the police also secured an additional 2 kg of TATP that had been detonated by the police in the vicinity of the scene. Subsequently, the pumps will be mixed with other chemicals.
“ZA is the one that manufactures, assembles the pumps. The pump is the bottle pump,” Yusri said.
Yusri did not elaborate on the plan or location for the detonation that the terrorism suspects had prepared. He only said that investigators from the Special Detachment (Densus) 88 of the Antiterrorist Police are still investigating.
This includes the identities of suspected terrorists who are strongly suspected of having ties to Indonesia’s banned mass organization, the Islamic Defenders Front. In the evidence presented by the police, the attributes and membership card (KTA) of the FPI were found.
“The team is still investigating the correlation between these four suspects, who he said were previously banned mass organizations with him as a terrorist member. We are still investigating this,” he said.
94 terror suspects arrested
The head of the General Information Section (Kabagpenum) of the National Police, Kombes Pol Ahmad Ramadhan, said that Densus 88 had arrested 94 terror suspects since early 2021.
“The evidence is that we are serious about conducting the 2021 period from January to March, Densus 88 has arrested 94 terror suspects,” Ramadhan told reporters at the National Police headquarters, Jakarta, on Tuesday ( 30/3).
While the police have an important role, the community must also be actively involved in the prevention aspect. Ramahan said that the public must participate to be aware of the spread of radical ideology and the activities of terrorist groups.
Including the recitation in Villa Mutiara, followed by a suicide bomber in the Cathedral Church, Makassar.
“When people see foreign associations, they can inform the police. Like the pearl village, in a residential area, meetings are held, all from outside,” Ramadhan said.
“It means not from the complex. At least local officials, RT or RW can report the whereabouts of these people,” he added.
Police stepped up the operation to arrest suspected terrorists after a suicide bomb exploded on March 28, 2021 at the Makassar Cathedral Church.
In the two days since the incident occurred, 18 terrorism suspects were arrested. They came from Makassar (7), West Nusa Tenggara (5) and Jabodetabek (6).
