Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD said he wouldn’t take the statement seriously Rizieq Shihab in an exception or defense at trial. The former FPI leader blamed Mahfud for provoking the crowd at the airport.
According to him, the statement Rizieq made this afternoon was a common one for people seeking a defense. Rizieq said he was looking for an alibi.
“It’s okay for people to look for an alibi. Our government will not take criminal law seriously with administrative law,” Mahfud said when confirmed on Friday (3/26).
The administrative law Mahfud was referring to was the discretion provided by the government when Rizieq returned from Saudi Arabia in early 2020. So Mahfud said, what Rizieq conveyed in his expression would not be a problem for his party.
It will fully allow Rizieq to present various reasons in court. Mahfud said his party would not respond to Rizieq’s accusation in court.
Because what is currently in the courts only has to do with the articles that are imputed. After all, Mahfud said, even if he had delivered a defense to the judging panel regarding Rizieq’s statement, the judging panel would not have responded.
Mahfud was sure that the judges knew perfectly well what the government was doing through the Coordinating Minister of Political, Legal and Security Affairs at that time, that is, administrative law.
“The judge doesn’t listen to it, he doesn’t need it, because the judge knows that what the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs is doing is administrative law, not criminal law,” Mahfud said.
“Extending to an administrative law carried out by the government is completely irrelevant, only to lead the public that I am not mistaken, that it is the fault of the Coordinating Minister of Politics, Law and Security for allowing,” continued Mahfud.
On that occasion, Mahfud also mentioned to Rizieq that he had delivered a speech and expressed his special thanks.
When he had not yet been arrested by the police and charged with the crowd, Rizieq gave a speech thanking Mahfud for his discretion at the airport.
But now, after being arrested, Rizieq blames Mahfud for the incident.
“Although that night he thanked the Coordinating Minister of Political, Legal and Security Affairs for allowing him to go home and so on. Now, he said it was the fault of the Coordinating Minister of Political, Legal and Security Affairs,” he said. Mahfud.
