JAKARTA KOMPAS.com – The President of the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI), Daeng M Faqih, asked the public to be aware of the mutation of the corona virus found in the UK, namely N439K.

“Recently the government announced variant B.1.1.7 and in the world there is another new variant that has been being developed in Britain, namely the N439K,” Daeng said in a written statement on Wednesday (3/10 / 2021).

Daeng said that the N439K variant of the corona virus had been found in 30 countries and was “smarter” than the previous corona virus.

“The N439K variant, which has been in more than 30 countries, is actually more intelligent of the previous variant because the binding to the ACE2 receptor in human cells is stronger and is not recognized by polyclonal antibody that is formed from the immunity of people who have been infected, ”he said.

In addition, Daeng said, wearing masks in accordance with the standards can protect against transmission of the corona virus.

He said that wearing masks properly and 90 percent correctly can prevent transmission of the corona virus.

As is known, the government announced that the corona virus B.1.1.7 mutation case had entered Indonesia on Tuesday (2/3/2021).

The Ministry of Health reported that the corona virus B.1.1.7 mutation was only found in five provinces. The first two cases, as is known, were found in Karawang, West Java.

Then North Sumatra, East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan and South Sumatra.
