AC Milan’s victory over AS Roma required sacrifices. The injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Hakan Calhanoglu and Ante Rebic had to be withdrawn due to injury.

He continued the trip from Milan to the Rome headquarters at the Stadio Olimpic of the Italian League, on Monday (1/3/2021) early morning. The Rossoneri took the lead in the first half thanks to a penalty from Franck Kessie.

Roma could only respond when the second half had been running through Jordan Veretout for five minutes. Ante Rebic gave Milan a 2-1 victory through his goal in the 58th minute.

Milan finally returned to winning ways in the Italian League after swallowing two consecutive defeats. This sweet result must be paid for with the injuries of Ibrahimovic, Calhanoglu and Rebic, who could not finish the match.

“They all have muscular problems, at the moment it seems more due to fatigue than tension, but tomorrow we will see what the medical team says,” Milan coach Stefano Pioli was quoted as saying by Football Italia.

“This is a watershed moment for our season and we hope they are not serious, because we need everyone we have,” he continued.

Pioli insists that Milan must not lose confidence after swallowing two consecutive league losses. Milan is now in second place with 52 points or four points behind Inter Milan at the top.

“I told the team that two defeats could not make us lose the trust that we built together for a year,” Pioli said.

“Our first half was incredible, we should be able to score more goals. It was a game with high pace and intensity, the kind we like,” he continued.
