The rossoneri knock down the wolves of the capital 2-1

The AS Roma vs AC Milan duel in Week 24 of the Italian League was fierce. With three goals disallowed, the Rossoneri managed to beat Il Lupi 2-1.

Roma host Milan at the San Siro on Sunday (1/3/2021) hrs. The match was exciting with the two teams exchanging attacks.

With three goals disallowed, the first half ended 1-0 for Milan’s lead. The Rossoneri opened the scoring with a penalty from Franck Kessie in the 43rd minute.

Roma were able to respond when the second half had been just five minutes away from Jordan Veretout’s goal. Milan can take the lead again in the 57th minute. Ante Rebic’s action changed the score to 2-1 for the visitors.

Milan’s 2-1 lead lasted until the game ended. Three additional points to take Milan to close the gap with Inter Milan at the top of the table.

Stefano Pioli’s troops are in second place with 52 points four points behind the Snake. As for Roma, this defeat kept them in fifth position with 44 points.

The course of the match

In the 5th minute, Milan broke Roma’s goal through Fikayo Tomori from a foul situation. However, this goal had to be rejected due to Tomori offside.

A minute later, Pau López’s mistake almost put Milan ahead. Zlatan Ibrahimovic can snatch the ball from him in front of Roma’s goal.

Ibrahimovic’s first shot was blocked by López. Wild ball trying to return this Swedish player from behind, but still wide.

Pau López’s goalkeeper trembled again in the 9th minute. This time, Ibrahimovic beat López after snatching a ball from Ante Rebic. This Milan goal again had to be annulled because of this offside.

Still pressured by the Rossoneri, Roma tried to respond in the 22nd minute. Jordan Veretout launched a shot from inside the penalty area after receiving a ball that bounced off Borja Mayoral. His efforts were still correct in the direction of Gianluigi Donnarumma’s embrace.

The game became more and more interesting. In the 27th minute, Milan squandered a golden opportunity to take the lead when Simon Kjaer’s header from a corner hits the crossbar.

In the 29th minute, Roma’s turn was canceled. Henrikh Mkhitaryan shook Donnarumma’s net after continuing with Gianluca Mancini’s header. This goal was not passed because Mancini pushed Theo Hernández.

Lopez made two brilliant saves to save Roma in the 33rd and 35th minutes. He was able to ward off close range shots from Ante Rebic and Alexis Saelemaekers.

In the 43rd minute, Milan received a penalty after the referee reviewed the VAR due to Federico Fazio stepping on Davide Calabria.

The first half closed with the score 1-0 in favor of Roma.

After a hiatus, the Capital Wolves managed to equalize in the 50th minute.

Goal!! Receiving the ball from Leonardo Spinazolla from the left, Veretout launches a measured shot from the edge of the penalty area. The ball settled in the left corner of the Rossoneri goal.

In the 57th minute, Milan gave them the lead back. Il Diavolo’s goal came from a bait error by López. Saelemaekers, who received the ball, immediately tossed it to Rebic.

Goal!! Rebic with a circular motion tricked Mancini before launching a strong kick. The score changed 2-1 for Milan.

In the 77th minute, Milan nearly walked away when Tomori grabs Theo’s free kick. However, López was able to protect himself from the ball in an orderly fashion.

Lopez returned to action in the 81st minute when he parried a shot from Rade Krunic from the middle of a penalty.

Milan were able to maintain their 2-1 lead until the match was completed.
