The KPK has been monitoring the South Sulawesi (Sulsel) project bribery case that dragged down South Sulawesi Governor Nurdin Abdullah since February. The KPK said that Nurdin Abdullah had wanted the suspect Agung Sucipto (AS) to be the contractor for the project he would work on in 2021.

KPK President Firli Bahuri explained that since February 2021 there has been communication between the 3 suspects in this case. The three suspects were Nurdin Abdullah (NA) and South Sulawesi Province PUTR Secretary Edy Rahmat as the recipient of the bribe and Agung Sucipto as the suspect who gave the bribe.

“Since February 2021, there has been active communication between the US and ER as representation and confidant of the NA brethren to ensure that the US gets the project it wants back in 2021,” Firli said at a press conference at KPK Red and White. House, Kuningan Jakarta. South, Sunday (2/28/2021).

Firli said the communication suspected that the project fee had been negotiated. “In some of these communications, it is suspected that there was a rate negotiation to determine each of the project values that the United States would work on later,” he said.

Firli said that, in early February 2021, Nurdin Abdullah, who was in Bulukumba, met Edy Rahmat. Agung Sucipto participated in the meeting.

“At the beginning of February 2021, when NA was in Bulukumba, it met with ER and also with the US that had received the Bira Tourism project,” he said.

Al Sekdis PUTR from South Sulawesi province Edy Ramhat, Nurdin Abdullah said that the project contractor in Bira Tourism Area was Agung Sucipto. NurdinAbdullah then asked Edy Rahmat to speed up the preparation of technical documents.

“NA told ER that the continuation of the Bira Tourism project would be carried out again by the United States, which then gave NA approval and directed ER to immediately expedite the preparation of detailed engineering design documents that will be auctioned in the 2022 TA Budget, “said Firli.

Edy Rahmat, Firli said, informed Nurdin Rahmat that the fee for the project undertaken by Agung Sucipto had been given elsewhere. However, Firli explained, Nurdin Abdullah still wanted the project to be managed by Agung Sucipto.

Furthermore, in late February 2021, when ER met with NA, it was said that the fee for the US-undertaken project in Bulukumba had already been given elsewhere. At the time, NA said the important thing was that the United States could still help NA operations, “he said.
