The Indonesian Cultural House (RKN) advocacy institute apologized for the release of a statement by the cultural observer, Father Benny Susetyo, which was widely discussed. Father Benny admitted that he accepted the apology.
“I accept it well (your apology),” Romo Benny said when contacted on Tuesday (2/23/2021).
Father Benny said he had forgiven RKN. According to him, the apology is a form of responsibility to prioritize the value of the truth in the reports.
“If it is a neighbor, mistakes are forgiven, this is a form of responsibility of journalists who prioritize the values of truth,” said Father Benny.
He said RKN asked him to be present as a resource as a humanist. Where in the discussion the natural conditions that occurred were discussed.
“Because when they asked me to be a resourceful person as a humanist. There was a discussion on Sunday at RKN, a lot was written about natural conditions, about 20 opinions were spread in all the national media,” said Benny, who also serves as a Specialist. Head of Director BPIP Dewa’s staff.
It was previously known that the statement by cultural observer Romo Benny regarding the Jakarta floods was widely discussed on social media because it was written as a comment as a representative of BPIP. The YouTube account that uploaded Romo Benny’s statement apologized.
“The Archipelago House of Culture (RKN) defense institute clarifies a video titled: Why Floods Still Exist in Jakarta with Cultural Resources Expert Antonius Benny Susetyo,” RKN Vice President Filipus Reza said in a Communication received by detik.com, Tuesday (2/23/2021).
Reza said his party made a mistake in writing Father Benny’s position when he conveyed his views on the flood. He explained that Father Benny’s ability in the interview was as a humanist.
“In the video, RKN Media wrongly wrote Father Benny’s position as a special staff of the Steering Committee of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP). And in this case, in his capacity as a humanist, Romo Benny gave his opinion on how to solve the flood problem in Indonesia, including in DKI Jakarta, “he said.
Romo Benny’s explanation regarding the flood was uploaded to the Nusantara House of Culture (RKN) media YouTube account titled “Why floods still exist in Jakarta !!!” which was uploaded on February 21, 2021. In the interview, Father Benny was mentioned as a representative of BPIP. Father Benny has allowed the statement to be quoted.
