Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –

Members of Commission I DPR RI of the Prosperous Justice Party (MCC), Al Muzzammil Yusuf, posted an interruption about social media activists, Permadi Arya alias Abu Janda |, at the DPR RI Plenary Meeting, Wednesday (2/10).

In his interruption, he questioned whether Abu Janda, in his activities as an activist or social media influencer, received fees from the State Budget (APBN).

The question was posed by Muzzammil after previously presenting Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW) findings in August 2020, which revealed that the government had spent tens of billions of budgets on influencers.

“First, is Permadi Arya paid from the APBN budget?” Muzzammil asked.

In addition, he highlighted Abu Janda’s content on social media, which often had racist overtones and insulted certain religions. The chairman of DPP PKS later questioned whether the democratic system in Indonesia would be built with a figure like Abu Janda.

“Second, will our democracy be built with influencers with characters like Permadi Arya? Some of the videos are accusations of racism and blasphemy,” he said.

Furthermore, Muzzammil referred to the legal case currently facing Abu Janda regarding alleged racist acts against former Komnas HAM commissioner Natalius Pigai and alleged hate speech against Islam.

“On the issue of religion, especially the issue of Islam, I quote the statement in question, ‘Islam is an arrogant religion.’ The comments in the previous period were ‘Terrorism has a religion, it is Islam.’ a complete overview, please see the relevant social networks, “said Muzammil.

He continued, Abu Janda had been watched often, but the legal process was always stalled without clarity. According to him, this situation creates the impression on the public that supporters of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) have legal immunity.

DPR Vice President Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, as chairman of the plenary meeting, responded to Muzzammil’s interruption.

According to him, Muzammil’s statement was clear and understood by those who heard him.

“What has been transmitted is clear and those who listen can accept or understand what is being said,” Dasco said, without elaborating on the response.

Abu Janda is known to have been dragged into two cases in the police at this time, namely the alleged racism against Natalius Pigai and the alleged blasphemy regarding his charge of offending “arrogant Islam”.

Although he had already been questioned by the police, Abu Janda had not yet been identified as a suspect.
