JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Democratic Party politician Rachland Nashidik criticized President Joko Widodo’s attitude of not responding to the letter from Democratic President General Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY).
“Does Pak Jokowi want to wash his hands? If so, he shouldn’t,” Rachland said when contacted. Kompas.com, Friday (2/5/2021).
He assessed that the president did not necessarily ignore the letter sent by AHY.
The president, according to Rachland, must respond to the letter to give a strong signal that the practice of taking control of political parties by force is not the right thing to do.
“The president must send a strong message that the practice of seizing political parties by force is incorrect and bad,” he emphasized.
He also recalled that the practice of forced acquisitions not only happened to Democrats, but also happened to PDI Perjuangan, Jokowi’s party, some time ago.

According to him, such actions are a form of political relics of the past.
“Therefore, the president must not tolerate the same political practices or imitate those of his own men,” Rachland explained.
In addition, Rachland stressed that his party would not feel at a disadvantage if President Jokowi decided to hide behind an enigma about his attitude.
He just hopes the president can steer clear of doubts and confusion in politics.
“On the other hand, a strong and dignified decision must be chosen. Not only for the sake of protecting democracy. But also for the honor of the Palace,” Rachland added.
Earlier, Secretary of State Minister (Mensesneg) Pratikno said that his party would not respond to AHY’s letter to Jokowi.

The letter was related to the issue of assuming the leadership of AHY, which allegedly involved important officials from the president’s close circle and carried the name of the Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP) Moeldoko.
“So we’ve received the letter and we don’t think we need to reply to it,” Pratikno said, via the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube broadcast, on Thursday (4/2/2021).
Pratikno said his party would not respond to AHY’s letter because it contained the internal dynamics of the Democratic Party.
“Because it is a question of the internal dynamics of the party, it is the date of the internal house of the Democratic Party, all of which has been regulated in the AD / ART (Articles of Association and Statutes),” he said.
