Manchester United celebrated nine unanswered goals at home to Southampton. The victory saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer equal Sir Alex Ferguson’s record.

Man Utd performed trengginas in Premier League Week 22 at Old Trafford on Wednesday (2/3/2021). Against Southampton, the Red Devils closed the match with a 9-0 victory!

Alexandre Jankewitz’s red card in the second minute became the starting gate for MU to ruin Southampton’s defense. Aaron Wan-Bisakka (18 ‘), Marcus Rashford (25’), Jan Bednarek (34 ‘) and Edinson Cavani (39’) scored four goals in the first half.

The hosts did not relax their attacks in the second half and scored additional goals through Anthony Martial (69 ‘) and Scott McTominay (70’). Southampton received a second red card in the 83rd minute after Bednarek fouled Martial in the box.

Bruno Fernandes successfully executed the penalty and it became Manchester United’s seventh goal of the match. The Red Devils added two more goals through Martial and Daniel James at the end of the game.

Man Utd’s 9-0 win this time seems to be an achievement in itself for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norwegian repeated the record previously set by Sir Alex Ferguson when he led the Red Devils to a 9-0 victory over Ipswich Town at Old Trafford in 1995.

Solskjaer admits that he is not overly focused on his achievements. For him, the most important thing is that Manchester United is doing well and the players are doing the best they can.

“I didn’t think about that at all. We just focused on getting better and better, and learning from experience to find different areas and spaces,” said Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, quoted by BBC.
