Anies extends PSBB’s strict period in Jakarta until February 8

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan extended the strict period of Large Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) from January 26 to February 8, 2021.

The decision to extend the strict period of PSBB is contained in the Decree of the Governor of DKI Jakarta (Kepgub) Number 51 of 2021 regarding the extension of the application, duration and limitation of large-scale social restrictions on outdoor activities.

“Determining the extension of the application, the term and the restrictions to activities outside the home of large-scale social restrictions for 14 (fourteen) days from January 26, 2021 to February 8, 2021”, quoted from the Decree of the Governor signed by Anies on January 22, 2021.

This decision was made after the Central Government extended the period of imposing restrictions on community activities (PPKM) in Java and Bali, to avoid an increase in cases of transmission of Covid-19.

This policy was decided by President Joko Widodo at a cabinet meeting and announced by the coordinating minister for the Economy, who is also chairman of the Covid-19 Management Committee and National Economic Recovery (KPC-PEN) Airlangga Hartarto, on Thursday. (1/21/2021).

“The president requested that the restriction of community activities continue,” Airlangga said, via a YouTube broadcast from the Presidential Secretariat, on Thursday.

According to Airlangga, the PPKM extension was implemented because optimal results had not been shown after a week of implementation.

Of the 7 provinces that have implemented this policy, only 2 have managed to reduce the coronavirus transmission rate.

“Banten and Yogyakarta have experienced a decline,” Airlangga said.

If detailed, there are 73 districts or cities that have implemented the first volume of PPKM.

As a result, 29 districts or cities are still at high risk of transmitting Covid-19. So 41 districts or cities are in a moderate risk zone, and only 3 districts or cities have a low risk of transmitting the corona virus.

In more detail, out of 73 districts / cities, there was an increase in weekly Covid-19 cases in 52 regions. Meanwhile, only 21 districts or cities have seen a decline.
