The BPJS employment case allegedly related to mutual funds

Office of the Attorney General (MAKE) stated the alleged corruption in the PT’s Social Security Administration Body (BPJS) Labor related to the management of investment funds. The alleged corruption case has also been brought up for investigation.

“The team of investigating prosecutors of the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes has begun to examine related parties as witnesses in alleged corruption cases in the financial management and investment funds of PT BPJS Ketenagakerjaan,” said Leonard, Director of the Information Center Legal Attorney General (Kapuspenkum). Eben Ezer Simanjuntak in an official statement, Tuesday (1/19).

However, there has been no further information from the Prosecutor about the position of the case. Including, the period of time that the alleged corruption in the state company occurred.

The alleged corruption case was escalated to an investigation in early 2021. The case was handled by Jampidsus investigators based on an investigation order Number: Print-02 / F.2 / Fd.2 / 01/2021.

Investigators are examining multiple witnesses to investigate the case. Furthermore, several documents were confiscated during a search of the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan headquarters in Jakarta, yesterday Monday (1/18). However, there are still no suspects in the case.

Jampidsus research director Febrie Adransyah once claimed that the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan case was allegedly the same as that of PT Asuransi Jiwasraya (Persero).

Febri said that in this case there were many transactions related to the management of stocks and mutual funds. This case has reportedly caused the company to lose up to Rs 43 trillion.

“We are still looking at BPJS because, like Jiwasraya, there are many transactions. The value is up to Rs 43 trillion in mutual funds and stocks,” Febrie said on Tuesday (12/29).
