Jakarta –
Manchester United is really stable and leads the Premier League. But there is a serious threat from Manchester City that is on the rise.
Manchester United remain at the top of the Premier League standings after a 0-0 draw with Liverpool on Sunday (1/17/2021). “Red Devils” accumulated 37 points in 18 weeks.
But the first position has the potential to be taken by Man City, which is stalking MU with a distance of only two points. Pep Guardiola’s team still has a game ahead.
What Manchester United should pay more attention to is that Manchester City are also undefeated in the last nine league games. Even the Citizens won the last five.
MU itself has been undefeated in 12 matches, winning nine victories. But former United defender Gary Neville believes Manchester City deserves to be seeded in the title race, even against Liverpool.
“The title race is changing. City are dangerous and on the rise, and they seem to be doing well. Is Liverpool living up to their standards? No,” he said. Sky sports.
“It seems that City has reached a level where, if it is defensible, it could ruin the league. They are in a very good moment, with good confidence. But like most teams this season, it is only in the short term.”
“Four or five weeks went by, then the teams experienced that decline. Who will establish a steady rhythm? I’ve always said Liverpool, but I’ll trade it to Manchester City, let’s see how they play.”
“Liverpool will not be reinforced by Van Dijk yet so we cannot push Fabinho to the middle. We are looking at an interesting league, the most interesting is where the situation can change from week to week,” Gary Neville said.
Before Manchester United took the lead, various teams like Everton and Liverpool also topped the rankings.
