jpnn.com, JAKARTA – The appointment of Komjen Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo as the sole candidate for chief of the National Police by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has received the attention of clerics.
KH Martin Syarkawi, Chairman of the Board of the Banten Salafiyah Islamic Internship (MPS), even remembers the actions of the police who was born in Ambon, Maluku, on May 5, 1969 when he was the Banten Police Chief.
At the time, said Kiai Martin Syarkawi, the three-star general whom he used to call by the name Sigit, had expressed concern about economic empowerment in Islamic boarding schools.
According to him, Sigit has helped revive the economy and the independence of the Salafiyah Islamic boarding schools, which number in the hundreds or even thousands in Banten province.
“Pak Sigit once asked what would be the solution to maintain the independence of this Salafiyah Islamic boarding school. Then he thought about building the economic empowerment of the Pesantren,” Kiai Martin Syarkawi said through a press release in Jakarta on Friday (15 /1).
Kiai Martin explained, from this idea finally came the Santri Food House (RPS) program.
After the data collection and verification was carried out, at that time there were more than 150 Islamic boarding schools participating in the program.
The RPS concept is like a store that provides gasoline, rice, and other basic necessities.
