BMKG Info, recent earthquake shakes Pangandaran and Tasikmalaya tonight

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Information from BMKG said that the last earthquake today, Friday, January 15, 2021, occurred in Pangandaran on the southern coast of Java, at 21:17 WIB. The origin of the earthquake was precisely in the sea, 88 kilometers southwest of the regency in West Java.

The Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics said on its official website that the earthquake had a magnitude of 4.7 with a depth of origin of 57 kilometers. Although intensity is measured on the MMI III scale, it feels like a truck passing through the house, from Pangandaran to Tasikmalaya and Cisompet.

In the Ciamis, Banjar and Garut areas, the intensity of the earthquake was similar but weaker.

The second earthquake occurred at 18:28 WIB in Sinabang, Simeulue Island, Aceh Province. Its source is centered in the sea, 49 kilometers southwest of the city. An earthquake measuring 4.7 M and measured from a depth of 10 kilometers can be felt in intensity on the MMI III scale in Sinabang.
