JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Basarnas Chief Marshal Madya TNI (Retired) Bagus Puruhito said his group had evacuated 65 bodies of Sriwijaya Air victims who fell into the waters of the Thousand Islands.
Thus, the total number of body bags evacuated until the fourth day of the search, Tuesday (12/1/2021), was 139 bags.
“Today we have 65 body bags. We have found a total of 139 body bags,” Bagus told a press conference at JICT II, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, finds of small aircraft debris increased by 10 bags to 26, and large aircraft debris increased by two, bringing the total to 26.
Earlier, the SAR team announced that the flight data recorder (FDR) or part of the black box of the Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 aircraft had been found on Tuesday afternoon.
Although parts of the plane’s black box have been found, Bagus said the search for victims and materials from the aircraft will still continue.
In addition, the search continues for the cockpit voice recorder (CVR), which is another part of the black box that stores the content of the pilot and co-pilot conversation.
“For tomorrow’s plan, we continue to focus on the search and evacuation of victims, which is carried out jointly by all the elements of the SAR under the coordination of Basarnas,” said Bagus.
“So we continue looking for debris from the fuselage and the CVR,” he continued.

Meanwhile, the National Police’s Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Team has received 111 DNA samples from the families of the Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 victims.
However, no victims have been identified due to the matching DNA samples.
The four identified victims, namely Okky Bima, Fadly Satrianto, Khasanah and Asy Habul Yamin, were identified thanks to the fingerprint comparison.
The Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 aircraft lost contact between Male Island and Lancang Island, Thousand Islands, on Saturday around 2:40 p.m. WIB or 4 minutes after taking off from Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang.
The plane was carrying 62 people, made up of six crew members, 46 adult passengers, seven children and three babies.
The Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 aircraft had left the flight path, which was heading northwest at 14:40 WIB.

The air traffic controller (ATC) asked the pilot about the flight direction of the aircraft.
However, in a matter of seconds, the plane lost contact and fell.
