The Kramat Jati (RS) Police Hospital, Jakarta, has received 7 body bags and 21 DNA samples related to the plane crash. Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 which fell into the waters of the Thousand Islands, Jakarta.
“We inform you that so far the team has received 21 DNA samples, then 7 body bags,” said on Sunday (October 1) the head of the Public Information Office of the Police Public Relations Division, General Brigade Rusdi Hartono, at the Jakarta National Police Hospital.
Rusdi said there were 306 people to identify the bodies of the accident victims. They came from the National Police, TNI, the Ministry of Health, as well as forensic specialists.
The process of identifying the body of the Sriwijaya SJ 182 incident will begin tomorrow. Rusdi hopes that the families can go to the Police Hospital to help with the identification process.
Rusdi asked the victims’ relatives to bring various documents, such as diplomas and family cards. These documents are important to the body identification process.
“We also ask the families of the victims to assist DVI in the performance of its duties. The families of the victims can go to places that have been prepared to provide data to the DVI team,” he said.
Previously, the Sriwijaya SJ 182 plane crashed in the waters of the Thousand Islands, Jakarta, on Saturday (September 1). The incident was discovered within hours of the plane losing contact.
TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto confirmed that the joint team had found the location of the fuselage. The team prepares to lift the fuselage, which is currently 23 meters deep.
The team also managed to find the black box signal emitted from the seabed. In the near future, it is hoped that the black box can be found and used to investigate the accident.
