JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The pilot of the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 aircraft who lost contact and was thought to have crashed, Captain Afwan, was noted to be a pilot in the Indonesian Air Force. Captain Afwan is an alumnus of the Institute for Short Service (IDP) IV in 1987.
“Captain Afwan is a pilot of the Indonesian Air Force in the period 1987-1998, he flew in Air Squadron 4 and Air Akadron 31. Alumnus of IDP IV in 1987”, said the head of the Information Service of the Air Force Indonesia’s Marsma Indan Gilang, when it was confirmed on Saturday (1/9/2021).

Indan added that the plane was also carrying the family from Kadislog Air Base Supadio Kol Tek Ahmad Khaidir.
They are Akhmad Khaidir’s wife, Rahmania Ekananda, and their two children, Fazila Ammara and Dinda Amelia.

It was reported that the spokeswoman for the Ministry of Transport, Adita Irawati, stated that the Sriwijaya Air plane with the Jakarta-Pontianak route had lost contact.
“Has occurred lost contact Sriwijaya plane from Jakarta to Pontianak with call sign SJY 182. The last contact was made at 2:40 p.m. WIB, “Adita told Kompas.com on Saturday.
Adita said that currently the investigation process is still underway and his party is also coordinating with the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) and the National Committee for Transport Safety (KNKT).
