Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –

Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) evaluated the inauguration of several new officials of the Commission for the Eradication of Corruption (NCP) is a form of abuse of authority by leadership.

Because, according to ICW researcher Kurnia Ramadhana, the legal basis on which the inauguration was based was problematic.

“The policy of inaugurating dozens of KPK officials can also be regarded as an act of abuse of authority by the leadership,” Kurnia said in a written statement on Tuesday (5/1).

Kurnia explained that the structure of the KPK should not be changed because Article 26 of Law (UU) Number 19 of 2019 regarding the second reform of Law Number 30 of 2002 regarding the KPK that regulates this matter has not undergone changes or revisions .

Several of the fields regulated in article 26 include the Prevention Sector, the Inspection Sector, the Information and Data Sector and the Internal Control and Public Complaints Sector.

The changes in the nomenclature and the additional charges, he continued, contradicts the concept of bureaucratic reform that focuses on the issue of efficiency.

It is known that the old KPK structure only had 4 deputies with 12 addresses. However, since the promulgation of Commission Regulation Number 7 of 2020, the structure of the anti-corruption institutions has grown to 5 Deputies with 21 Directorates.

“This fattening also has implications for the implementation of functions trigger mechanism KPK. Another result of this fattening is the slowdown in the performance of the KPK, ”he said.

Previously, KPK President Firli Bahuri appointed a total of 38 officials to the anti-corruption commission. There are a number of new positions at the KPK, such as Deputy for Education and Community Engagement, Director of Corruption Detection and Analysis, Director of Information Management, Inspector, etc.
