LIVE – The statement of the founder of the Ummat Party, Amien Rais, who accuses the government of ending democracy in Indonesia by banning the activities of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), is considered inappropriate.
DPR RI’s National Awakening Party (PKB) faction member Maman Imanulhaq in Jakarta emphasized that the government was dissolving the FPI on a solid basis and in accordance with the law.
“Amien Rais’s opinion is an alternative to speculative views and not very precise,” Maman Imanulhaq said.
Maman said that democracy guarantees civil and political rights. However, we must also learn from the experiences of many countries, especially in the Middle East.
According to him, allowing identity politics to grow along with agitated mass leadership will lead to violence and war. “If so, the country’s existence could be threatened,” he warned.
He argues that identity-based mass leadership is dangerous because it often fosters an emotional mass.
“The masses will easily be induced to commit acts of violence,” said PKB DPP Undersecretary of the Syuro Council.
The government officially prohibits the activities, use of the name, symbol and attributes of FPI. The organization led by Rizieq Shihab no longer has legal personality since June 2019 because it was unable to comply with a registered certificate (SKT) as a mass organization.
Furthermore, the Government pointed out that the FPI violated many laws. It was recorded that 35 FPI members / administrators were involved in terrorism and up to 206 FPI / members were involved in other general crimes.
FPI members also often have problems conducting raids, activities that must be carried out by government officials. During this pandemic, Rizieq often gathered crowds as well.
The government also has proof that FPI supports ISIS. In the video that was shown during a press conference on Thursday (12-31-2020), FPI leader Rizieq Shihab appears excited to invite his followers to support ISIS.
According to Rizieq, ISIS has noble ideals. Rizieq also accused someone of wanting to pit the FPI against ISIS. Amien Rais believes that the dissolution of the FPI is a political step that will end democracy.
Amien reminded President Joko Widodo of Fir’aun’s leadership. At that time, the way they governed their territory was very fierce and bad deeds received retaliation.
Meanwhile, the member of the PDIP faction of the DPR RI, Rahmad Handoyo, argued that the differences of opinion were part of the interests of democracy.
In a democratic country, he said, the differences are a balance. However, that does not mean that the differences are infinite.
“The difference in Pancasila democracy is not free of values, but limited by values. The first value is Pancasila, oriental culture, religion and, of course, the constitution and the laws and regulations that govern our democracy,” he said Rahmad.
If these values are crushed and denied, the impact and risk will be too costly for NKRI. Rahmad recalled that the state was given space and legal authority to take steps to save the Republic of Indonesia under the constitution.
Rahmad invites all parties to think positively about the policy of dissolving the FPI for the sake of the unity of the Republic of Indonesia. (ant)
