jpnn.com, JAKARTA – The Chairman of the General Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), KH Marsudi Syuhud, emphasized that the government does not mean anti-Islam by dissolving the organization of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI).
“If it is anti-Islam, there will be no other organizations. There are still many organizations, there are 80 Islamic organizations still operating,” Kiai Marsudi Syuhud said in his statement in Jakarta on Sunday (3/1).
Kiai Marsudi explained that the government dissolved the FPI because the organization did not have a legal position as a mass organization.
If the FPI had a legal position, Kiai Marsudi believed that the mass organization formed by Habib Rizieq Shihab would not be dissolved by the government.
Apart from that, his party also agreed with the government’s reason for dissolving the FPI because it was considered to be against Pancasila as a state ideology.
Therefore, Kiai Marsudi emphasized that the dissolution of the FPI was not due to the organization being based on Islam.
“Whether it is because of Islam or not, the others will also dissolve. There are many Islamic organizations that are only in age with Indonesia, some have been established before,” explained Kiai Marsudi.
Kiai Marsudi Syuhud also asked the future government to have a dialogue with all organizations to function in accordance with the ideology of the country.
