Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –

A total of 1,610 joint officers will be deployed to secure the first pre-trial hearing Rizieq Shihab in District Court (PN) South Jakarta, Monday (4/1).

“1,610 joint TNI-Polri staff members and regional governments are on alert,” the head of the Police Public Relations Division, Police Inspector General Argo Yuwono, said in a written statement received in Jakarta on Sunday ( 3/1).

Argo said security began at the trial site to regulate the flow of traffic around the South Jakarta District Court.

The South Jakarta District Court has scheduled a trial for the reading of the pre-trial application filed by Shihab’s attorney, at 09:00 WIB on Monday (4/1). The court has also appointed a single judge to lead the trial, namely Akhmad Sahyuti and a deputy clerk, Agustinus Endri.

Previously, Shihab’s lawyer had registered a pre-trial request for the determination of the suspect, his arrest and detention with the defendant Polda Metro Jaya.

The pre-trial application was filed on December 15, 2020, with registration number 150 / Pid.Pra / 2020 / PN.Jkt.Sel. In addition to Shihab, the lawyer also recorded the pre-trial investigation of the four suspects in Petamburan with separate files.

Aziz Yanuar is always Rizieq’s attorney, and says that filing a pre-trial lawsuit is an effort to uphold justice and a graceful effort by the legal team to defend the legal interests of the ulama.

“This legal effort is our effort to uphold justice, eradicate accusations of criminalization of the ulama and undermine accusations of legal discrimination that are continuously suspected of occurring against the public, especially if there is a difference of opinion with the government,” he said.
