Manchester City will not be reinforced by Ederson Moraes against Chelsea. So young goalkeeper Zack Steffen is ready to make his Premier League debut.
City are not in ideal shape heading into the match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday (3/1/2021) tonight. Because they just got hit by the corona virus storm that exposed some of their players.
Only Gabriel Jesus and Riyad Mahrez were announced positive for COVID-19, while the other two players were Ferran Torres and Kyle Walker. This will certainly reduce City’s strength on the attack line.
Despite City still struggling to score goals this season, the absence of all four players is certainly detrimental. With the Jesus et al affair not finished, City must get some other unpleasant news.
The main goalkeeper, Ederson, will surely miss this week because he has to go through isolation. This news was announced directly in the history of the Brazilian player.
So in total there are five City players who cannot play. As a result, Pep Guardiola as coach had to line up a young United States goalkeeper, Zack Steffen, for an important match against Chelsea.
Steffen has only played four times this season in the Premier League Cup. He was signed by the Columbus Crew in 2019 and was loaned to Fortuna Duesseldorf last season, despite rarely playing due to a knee injury.
