Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –

Minister of BUMN Erick Thohir declare use electric car much more energy and profitable than conventional cars, in reference to the results of tests carried out with electric cars by PT PLN the Jakarta-Bali route.

He obtained test results by examining various charging station facilities in Denpasar, Bali.

As a result, fuel oil (BBM) of up to Rp1.1 million is needed when using an ordinary car, while the use of an electric car is Rp.200 thousand.

“This electric car has been tested by the PLN team from Jakarta to Bali. Of course, this is very economical, especially during a pandemic like this,” Erick said in an official statement on Saturday (2/1).

Erick said that not only is it profitable, the use of electric cars can also save the country’s foreign exchange, because it can reduce the imports of oil and gas (oil and gas) that have been made to meet the fuel needs of the community in the country.

By Erick’s calculations, at least the amount of foreign exchange that Indonesia released abroad for oil and gas import payments reached $ 200 trillion per year. This assumption arises from the need to import up to 1.5 million barrels per day.

“Electric cars are a solution to reduce the movement of foreign currency abroad,” he said.

In addition, according to him, electric cars are also more respectful of the environment because they emit less emissions than cars with fuel. This, he said, was in line with the government’s vision and mission of promoting sustainable economic development.

“To reduce air pollution and noise pollution. In fact, PLN offers a 30 percent discount to charge for the night,” he said.

Additionally, Erick said the government continues to monitor the development of the national electric car industry, including electric batteries as fuel. The state consortium will currently build an electric battery industry with investors from China and South Korea.

For information, the price of the cheapest electric car in Indonesia is around 600 million rupees, while the most expensive is over 1 billion rupees.

The government itself is trying to encourage the switch from conventional to electric cars through a series of regulations. One of them that will come into effect in 2021 is the PPnBM (Luxury Goods Sales Tax) electric cars, which are cheaper than fossil fuel cars.
