Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Today, the government has started to implement a ban on the entry of foreign nationals (WNA) from all countries to Indonesia. However, 1,700 people from international routes are known to have passed into Indonesia.
The rules to prohibit the entry of foreigners from all countries to Indonesia are contained in Circular Letter Number 04/2020 of the Covid-19 Management Working Group.
The head of the Covid-19 Airborne Task Force, Colonel Pas MA Silaban (TNI AU) said airport stakeholders already understand and are aware of the policies listed in SE 04/2020.
MA Silaban reported that on the first day of implementation of the regulation, it went smoothly at Soekarno-Hatta airport. Covid-19 Handling Air Satags will continue to monitor the application of SE 04/2020.
“Especially today (1/1/2021), the number of passengers on international routes arriving is around 1,700 and the quarantine hotel is confirmed to be ready,” said MA Silaban through an official broadcast issued by Angkasa Pura II. Received by CNBC Indonesia on Friday (1/1/2021).
MA Silaban further explained that the current quarantine provisions will be valid until January 14, 2021 for Indonesian citizens returning to Indonesia and for foreigners who are included in the exemption from entering Indonesia.
Until January 14, the availability of hotel rooms for quarantine will be sufficient. The Covid-19 Aerial Working Group has coordinated with PHRI (Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association) on the availability of hotels.
Before policy SE 04/2020 came into effect from December 28 to December 31, MA Silaban said there were between 1,500 and 2,000 passengers on international routes arriving at Soekarno-Hatta airport.
“Thanks to the support of PHRI, the availability of quarantined hotel rooms can be determined to accommodate all passengers on international routes,” he said.
CNBC Indonesia has confirmed with PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) Vice President of Corporate Communication Yado Yarismano about the 1,700 people from international routes who arrived in Indonesia, but Yado was reluctant to specify where the 1,700 people came from.
Yado was also reluctant to explain whether the 1,700 people were foreigners or Indonesian citizens (WNI), and also did not want to explain the reasons why Angkasa Pura II allowed the 1,700 people to enter Indonesia.
“For more details, please confirm with immigration friends, yes,” Yado told CNBC Indonesia on Friday (1/1/2021).
