Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Two Indonesian Citizens (WNI) who were still children were arrested and named as suspects in the symbol abuse case and status symbol through parody of the song Indonesia Raya.
Head of the Public Relations Division, Inspector General Pol. Argo Yuwono said that the two suspects, respectively, MDF (16) who were arrested in Cianjur, West Java and NJ (11) who were arrested in Sabah, Malaysia.
NJ was arrested by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) on Monday (12/28). Meanwhile, his MDF counterpart was detained by the Investigation Team of the Cyber Crimes Directorate of the National Police on Thursday (12/28).
“Finally, the PDRM managed to secure a man whose initials NJ is 11 years old, an Indonesian citizen living in Sabah Malaysia,” Argo said at the Bareskrim building, on Friday (1/1).
“There was a friendship with a man who was detained or arrested last night because the suspect was detained in Cianjur by the criminal investigator Cyber Bareskrim, so the initials MDF is 16 years old so they are both minors,” added Argo .
The NJ and MDF arrests began with a video that was busy on social media titled “Indonesia Raya Instrumental (Parody + Lyrics Video)”. The video was uploaded in mid-December by MY Asean YouTube account located in Malaysia.
Recently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu) reported insulting the symbol of the country to the Royal Malaysian Police.
Ditsiber Bareskrim Polri then contacted PDRM to investigate the case. In less than a week, PDRM picked up NJ, the owner of the MY Asean account who uploaded and distributed the video.
Argo said NJ is an 11-year-old citizen whose parents live in Sabah, Malaysia. NJ parents are migrant workers from Indonesia who work as drivers in an oil palm plantation company.
“Why is he there? Because NJ is following his parents who work as migrant workers, that is, as drivers for a plantation company in Sabah Malaysia,” he said.
Later, after the arrest, Ditsiber Barekrim arrested MDF, a high school third grader who was known to be the creator of the video, and gave it to New Jersey. Argo said, NJ and MDF are friends in cyberspace.
“The point is that between New Jersey in Sabah, then with the MDF in Cianjur, they make friends in cyberspace and often they communicate, they get angry often,” he said.
According to Argo, the video was originally created and uploaded by MDF on behalf of NJ to YouTube MY Asean. In addition to being on behalf of NJ, the MDF also made the video location in Malaysia, referring to where NJ lives.
NJ, who knows what her partner is doing, gets angry. Instead of removing traces from the video, however, NJ said that Argo instead re-uploaded the video through another YouTube account, namely My Asean, with the letter “Y” without a capital letter. NJ uploaded the video by adding a pig image.
“Then he edited the content of the content that MDF has already released and just added that there are pig pictures that were added to this NJ. So NJ did it too, then MDF did it too. So they both did it,” he said.
Argo has not explained in detail the motives behind the making and distribution of the video. His party is currently deepening the right to MDF, including NJ for PDRM.
Both are suspects of article 4 letter 5 paragraph 2 in conjunction with article 28 paragraph 2 of Law number 19 of 2016 on Reforms to Law Number 11 of 2008 on Information and Electronic Transactions or ITE.
In addition, both were also affected by article 64 A juncto of article 70 of Law number 24 of 2009 on National Flags, Languages and Emblems and National Anthems.
However, because they are still minors, Argo said, the MDF will undergo a punishment process in accordance with the Children’s Law.
“Those of Cianjur have already presented cases as suspects and the treatment is the Children’s Law. That is why it is different from adults,” he said.
