JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Several members of the Front of Islamic Defenders (FPI) declared the establishment of the United Islamic Front after the government dissolved their organization.
Responding to the rise of the Islamic United Front, the Chief of the Public Information Office of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Brigadier General Pol Rusdi Hartono, said that currently the National Police only focus on prohibiting activities and use of attributes on behalf of the massive organization of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI).
“The joint decision on the prohibition of activities, the use of symbols and attributes and the termination of the activities of the Islamic Defenders Front. Therefore, it only concerns the FPI,” said Brigadier General Rusdi. Tribunnews, Thursday (12/31/2020).

The National Police, he said, was not in the domain of prohibiting the granting of licenses for the emergence of new mass organizations with names similar to FPI.
Subsequently, it will be handed over to the ministry and related parties that are in charge of granting licenses to mass organizations.
“There will be an agency that will take care of it. Licensing issues for social organizations are not the domain of the National Police,” Rusdi said.
Earlier, FPI Undersecretary Aziz Yanuar said that the United Islamic Front organization was not a legal entity and would not be registered with the government.

Although the Islamic United Front was not registered, Aziz stressed that it was a legitimate organization. It refers to the decision of the Constitutional Court Number 82 / PUU-XI / 2013.

In this decision, the Constitutional Court allowed non-legal organizations not to register. However, organizations that do not register will not receive government services.
“Forms that are not registered do not mean they are illegal,” Aziz said.
“Ormas are free to choose to register or not, and cannot be declared a banned mass organization due to registration problems,” he said.
The Islamic United Front organization was declared on Wednesday (12/30/2020), or a few hours after the government announced the dissolution of the FPI.
FPI President Shabri Lubis and FPI Secretary Munarman were among the 19 people who declared the new association.
Apart from that, there are other names like Abu Fihir Alattas, Tb Abdurrahman Anwar, Abdul Qadir Aka, Awit Mashuri, Haris Ubaidillah, Idrus Al Habsyi, Idrus Hasan, Ali Alattas SH and Ali Alattas S.kom.

Then, Tuankota Basalamah, Syafiq Alaydrus, Baharuzaman, Amir Ortega, Syahroji, Waluyo, Joko and M Luthfi.
“To all the leadership, members and supporters of the Islamic Defenders Front in Indonesia and abroad, in order to avoid unnecessary affairs and clashes with the dzalim regime, we declare the Islamic United Front,” reads a written statement received from the Islamic Front United. Through the Islamic Association Front, the declarants stated that they will continue the struggle to defend religion, race and the country in accordance with the Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution, as the FPI has done so far.
