JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The board of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) is considering forming an organization under a new name after being dissolved by the government.
FPI Director of Legal Aid, Sugito Atmo Prawiro, said the plan to change the name would be discussed among FPI officials.
“We will discuss it later,” Sugito said at FPI headquarters, Petamburan III, central Jakarta, on Wednesday (12/30/2020).
However, Sugito said, the focus of FPI’s management at this time is to challenge the government’s decision before the State Administrative Court (PTUN).
This is in accordance with the instructions of the leader of the FPI, Rizieq Shihab.
“That (name change plan) will be on the way,” he said.

The government previously decided to stop activities and dissolve the mass organization FPI.
This decision was conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Mahfud MD, at a press conference at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs on Wednesday.
“The government prohibits the activities of FPI and will stop any activity carried out by FPI,” said Mahfud MD.
According to Mahfud MD, the government’s decision is in accordance with the rules and regulations that apply.
