jpnn.com, JAKARTA – The organization FPI (Front of Islamic Defenders) was officially dissolved by the government and is prohibited from carrying out activities.

The announcement was made by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD, which was broadcast on Kemenko Polhukam’s Youtube account, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (12/30).

“That FPI since June 21, 2019 de jure It has been dissolved as a mass organization, but as an organization, the FPI continues to carry out activities that violate order and security and are contrary to the law. Such as acts of violence, radical or unilateral raids, provocations, etc. ”Mahfud said.

Mahfud MD firmly asserted that the government did not recognize the existence of this mass organization led by Habib Rizieq Shihab.

“The government prohibits the activities of FPI and will stop any activity carried out by FPI, because FPI no longer has a legal position neither as Ormas nor as an ordinary organization. Therefore, it has no legal capacity,” said Mahfud MD.

As for the date stated by Mahfud MD that FPI had de jure been dissolved since June 21, 2019, it seems to be related to the SKT (Registered Certificate) of the mass organization.

The head of the Information Center of the Ministry of the Interior (Kemendagri), Benny Irwan, on November 21, 2020, said that currently the FPI is still registered as a mass organization. However, its status as a mass organization registered with the Interior Ministry ended in 2019.

“The FPI was once registered as one of the mass organizations in the Interior Ministry and its registration status ended in June 2019,” Benny told the media team, on Saturday (11/21).
