The West Java provincial government said that hundreds of schools were ready to carry out face-to-face learning in January 2021. This is according to the direction of the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud).

“Including face-to-face preparations led by the Ministry of Education and Culture, 785 schools out of 800 state schools are ready to hold face-to-face meetings,” West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil said in Makodam III Siliwangi on Monday (28 / 12/2020).

Contacted separately, the Secretary of the West Java Education Office said that the 785 schools consist of various types of schools. From private to public.

“Public and private. SMA and SMK,” he said.

Meanwhile, various regions of West Java have various policies. Starting with those who are ready to study face-to-face learning. However, on average, they still study face-to-face learning.

In Bandung, for example, the Bandung city government is still considering implementing face-to-face teaching and learning activities for students. This is because Bandung is still in a high risk zone related to COVID-19.

“At first glance, the tutor doesn’t have (face-to-face learning),” Bandung Deputy Mayor Yana Mulyana said in Jalan Cipadung, Bandung City, on Monday (12/28/2020).

Furthermore, he continued, the Bandung City Office of Education has yet to discuss the school discourse that will begin face-to-face teaching and learning in 2021. “The area is correct. If we read the regulations, it depends on the area and the district / city leaders. We know the area is still high risk, maybe that’s a consideration too, “Yana said.

Same at Bogor Regency. The Bogor Regency Government (Pemkab) is still conducting studies on this face-to-face school.

“Yes, we are still being reviewed by the Office of Education (regarding face-to-face schools),” said Bogor Regent Ade Yasin, Bogor Regency Office of Social Service, Jalan Bersih, Cibinong, Bogor Regency, on Monday (12/28/2020).

In Cianjur, teaching and learning activities (KBM) or face-to-face schools have the potential to be postponed. This is because the Cianjur Regency Government is still reviewing and considering the growth rate of COVID-19 cases.

Cianjur Acting Regent Herman Suherman said initial school activities needed further study and consideration of the COVID-19 case detection rate in Cianjur. However, the results of temporary consultations with a team of health experts show that children are susceptible to COVID-19, so face-to-face schools are not possible in the near future.

“Furthermore, Cianjur is in its peak phase. Now, there are 1,297 confirmed cases registered. So schools may not be held in early January 2021, ”Herman said on Monday (12/28/2020).
