Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The government has revealed that Indonesia will have tours of the Forbidden City like Beijing, China. It is planned to build the Forbidden City tourism concept in Ubud, Bali.

This was transmitted directly by the Minister of PPN / Head of Bappoco Suharso Monoarfa during an end-of-year press conference in Bali, which was broadcast virtually on Monday (12/28/2020).

“In Ubud we will create a place, I can’t say where it is. In Ubud, it’s almost the same as in the Forbidden City, so Bali will have something like that, limited and with all kinds of world shows in Ubud,” Suharso said. .

By carrying out the Forbidden City in Ubud, Bali, Suharso said, as well as the government’s efforts to restore tourism in Bali. So the tourism in Bali is expected to become the best quality tourism for the tourist or quality tourism.

Suharso said that Bap recently is preparing a master plan for the development of the Forbidden City in the style of Ubud. In this case, he continued, Bap barely is working with traditional leaders and local governments.

In principle, Indonesia wants tourism in Ubud, Bali will give priority to cultural tourism and will give priority to private or limited tourism.

“There will be a place built like a forbidden city with all kinds of world shows. We are currently making the master plan,” Suharso explained.

“Hopefully we can complete it (the master plan) in the first half of 2021, so we can see what it looks like,” Suharso continued.

It should be noted that the Forbidden City was the first in Beijing, China. The Forbidden City is an imperial palace complex and the residence of the Chinese kasiar and their relatives during the Ming and Qing dynasties, between 1420 and 1924. This place was once the center of Chinese rule for nearly 5 centuries. Hence, the Forbidden City in China was registered as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1987.

Suharso said that the Forbidden City in Ubud will adapt the concept of Forbidden City culture. This is because tourism in the future after Covid-19 is expected to change (pass) from mass tourism, where tourists arrive at a destination en masse, to quality tourism that is more private and limited.

According to him, Bali is ready to become a quality tourism destination, which is why the government encourages the birth of the Forbidden City area.

“So we’re not just selling beaches and so forth, but we’re going to start selling more limited crops again, we’re going to encourage that,” he said.

“Because if we can take care of culture by itself, tourism can live. For that reason, I would like to say that taking care of culture with tourism, one of which is in Ubud, is a kind of appointment and appointment of the Forbidden City”, Suharso continued.
